Kruk forgets that McGriff is too busy crime-dogging to hot-dog. That is, he is pretending to be a dog that wears a coat and hat and solves crimes.

Correction: McGruff the Crime Dog does not wear a hat. Upon examining www.mcgruff.org, however, it appears that he does wear jeans and Timberlands in addition to an investigative coat.
