Where Bad Sports Journalism Comes To Die

FJM is a closed forum, but we welcome reader feedback. We're especially interested in corrections of our work, and research (usually number-crunching) that we may not be able to do ourselves. Please check the comments section as well, where we often post readers' opinions, and, less frequently, announce that we were wrong about something. You can e-mail dak, Ken Tremendous, Junior, Matthew Murbles, or Coach individually.

David Schoenfield, I have a message for you:

You're a moron.

You're picking the 40 current major leaguers who will make it to the Hall of Fame. Today, you listed the "easier ones": the top 20.

Not in the top 20:
Pedro Martinez

In the top 20:
Tom Glavine
John Smoltz
Miguel Cabrera (!)
Sammy Sosa

Plus, you say that Mike Mussina deserves to make it but probably won't.

Let's make this quick:

Tom Glavine career ERA+: 121
John Smoltz career ERA+: 125
Pedro Martinez career ERA+: 167

Miguel Cabrera's current age: 22

Number of seasons Sammy Sosa has been below league average in OBP: 7

Pedro is the greatest pitcher of our era not named Roger Clemens. And outlandish longevity aside, even that is debatable.

You know an article is going to be good when it starts out with a gem like this:

"When Al Gore invented the Internet, I think he had the Baseball Hall of Fame on his mind."
