In a master stroke of counterintuitive thought last night, Buster Olney made a case that the Yankees have an advantage over the Red Sox because, by having a worse record, they have waiver rights.
If I'm the Red Sox right now, I better do my damnedest to drop like 6 of the next 8 in the hopes of jumping back into second. You just can't afford to give up that kind of advantage at this point in the season.
Now that I'm thinking about it, the team the Sox should fear the most right now are the D-Rays, who should have a HUGE advantage when they claim every shitty/overvalued player in the league.
