FIRE JOE MORGAN

Where Bad Sports Journalism Came To Die

FJM has gone dark for the foreseeable future. Sorry folks. We may post once in a while, but it's pretty much over. You can still e-mail dak, Ken Tremendous, Junior, Matthew Murbles, or Coach.

Good Stuff, TBS

Got this sent in from multiple sources, but this one's from Rob:

Bottom 2nd in Arizona. Runners on 1st and 2nd, Davis lays down a sacrifice bunt. Chris Young eventually homers in his at bat. Ron Darling immediately points out "one of the more important at bats that inning was Doug Davis getting the bunt down."

Never mind that a home run is worth the same amount if the runners are one 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd, and anything short of a double play ball would have allowed the home run to happen. In fact, Davis could literally have left his bat in the dugout, stood up there for roughly 3-5 pitches and it would not have hurt the probability of Young hitting a home run.

To make it worse, 2 innings later, in the interview with Bob Melvin, Darling delivers this gem:

"How about Doug Davis helping his own cause there getting that bunt down?"

It's hard to pick a worst moment for this broadcast team tonight, but this may take the cake.

Some people are saying it was Dick Stockton and not Ron Darling who said this, but I'm going to arbitrarily just blame them both.
