So of course I watched last night's hour-long ESPN2 infomercial for the new director's cut of "The Natural." At one point, MLB players were asked to dream-cast the role of Roy Hobbs. Derrek Lee suggested Todd Helton (sweet lefty swing, and he's "country"), Nick Swisher nominated Eric Chavez (blatant homerism), someone else chose Sean Casey (for reasons I can't remember), and then, with a straight face, Troy Tulowitzki claimed that he would cast none other than David "David Eckstein" Eckstein. Eckstein!!!
I'm pretty sure Roy Hobbs hit more home runs in a single montage than Eckstein has in his entire career.
